PelePele

You have to be pretty special to captivate an American audience as a soccer player in the 50s, 60s and 70s but Pele did more than just that. He took the entire World by storm with his amazing achievements on the pitch. Pele won three FIFA World Cups, leading Brazil to championships in 1958, 1962 and 1970 and scored 77 goals in 91 career matches with the Brazilian National team. Pele helped save FIFA at a time where corruption was killing it’s popularity. But in came Pele as it’s savior. He is one of just three players in history to score in four different World Cups and his 12 goals in the event was the second most at the time of his last appearance. On the club level, Pele started showing his greatness at the young age of 16 and over 18 seasons and 638 games with Santos FC, he scored 619 goals. At the end of his career, Pele made the move to American and played in the NASL for the New York Cosmos and scored 31 goals in 56 games over three seasons.
