Branch Rickey was an outside thinker and it helped him be great as a general manager. Rickey built four World Series championships as the General Manager of the St. Louis Cardinals and won four more NL pennants in his career. Rickey also had a major part in developing the farm system that we know today. Rickey is most famous for signing both the first African American Major League Baseball player, Jackie Robinson, and the first Latino player, Roberto Clemente; both of whom have been argued as the best player in history.
