Lamar HuntLamar Hunt

You probably know Lamar Hunt as the owner of the Dallas Texans/Kansas City Chiefs and man who founded the American Football League. He was key in the creation of the modern day NFL and key in the AFL-NFL merger. He was the won who came up with the title ‘Super Bowl’. But more than just being one of the most influential men in the history of professional football in the US, he also was one of the most influential men in professional soccer in the US. Hunt founded the Dallas Tornadoes as a member of the United Soccer Association and led the league’s merger with the NPSL to form the North American Soccer League. Later, he was one of the original founding investors in Major League Soccer. More than just that, he was a founding investor of the Chicago Bulls and remained a minority owner until his death. He co-founded the World Championship Tennis circuit, which created what is now known as the Open Era of tennis. And he was an owner of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets.
