Carl Lewis

Very few athletes have had a more decorated career than Carl Lewis. Lewis was the man to beat in four straight Olympics, taking the world by storm in 1984 by winning four Gold medals. He followed that up with two more in 1988, two more in 1992 and another in 1996. Lewis was a nine-time Olympic gold medalist and had a silver as well in 1988. He was also an eight-time World Champion over three games and earned a silver and bronze at the end of his career. Lewis excelled at the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, the 4×100 meter relay and long jump. He was never beaten in the 100-meter dash or relay at the world level. In 1999, Lewis was voted as the “Sportsman of the Century” by the International Olympic Committee and “World Athlete of the Century” by the International Association of Athletics Federations, track and field’s governing body.
