So the Charlotte Bobcats hired Patrick Ewing as an associate coach. It’s not exactly a game changer, but Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports pointed out Ewing being with Bobcats owner Michael Jordan means one thing.

SPACE JAM REUNION!!!

I’m not going to lie, I loves me some Space Jam. And even more awesome is that fact that when the games are showed on TNT, you add Charles Barkley to the mix! God I hope Bill F-ing Murray gets hired as the towel boy.

Okay, so maybe it means more than one thing. It also means that you get a strong working relationship between former Dream Team members as well as Steve Clifford, who served as an assistant coach alongside Ewing in both Houston and Orlando. And it means you get a hall-of-fame center and former dominant big man who has coached dominant big men in Yao Ming and Dwight Howard to come in and whip floundering seventh overall draft pick Bismack Biyambo into shape. And probably most importantly, it means you get another recognizable face to drum up fan interest in a franchise that has been in the bottom third of the league in attendance for the entire history of the franchise.

So maybe there are a lot of things that the Ewing hire means. But no matter how you slice it, it looks like a good move by the Bobcats, who realistically will still be terrible (I think should abandon the Bobcats legacy and rebrand as the Tune Squad, but that’s just me).
